Throng terms of use
1. Who we are
Throng is run by DarkByte, a personally owned business owned by Christian Behrens-Thomsen, CVR 33941285, Nordvanggårdsvej 6, 2. 3., 3460 Birkerød, Denmark ("DarkByte", "we"). Contact: christian@darkbyte.dk. We answer in English or Danish.
Throng is not made, sponsored or endorsed by TikTok. TikTok and TikTok LIVE are trademarks of their owners; we name them only to say what Throng is for.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account you accept these terms and confirm you have read the privacy policy. If you do not accept them, do not use Throng.
3. You must be 18 or older
Throng is for adults only. You confirm that you are 18 or older and that the date of birth you give is true. We close accounts that belong to someone under 18.
4. Your account
- You sign in with a code sent to your email address, with your TikTok account, or with your Apple account on iPhone. Sign-in runs through our provider Clerk. Keep your email and those accounts safe; anyone who can sign in to them can sign in to Throng as you.
- One person, one account. No fake accounts, no accounts run by bots, no selling or sharing accounts.
- If you signed in with email or Apple, you can link your TikTok account later. This is optional for fans.
- You can delete your account at any time (Me tab > Delete my account, or https://getthrong.com/delete-account).
5. Fan spaces
- Each fan space belongs to a creator. Anyone with the space's code or link can join it.
- The creator and their moderators run the space. There is no way in the app to appoint moderators; DarkByte sets them up on the creator's request. They may add house rules that are stricter than these terms, remove members, and remove posts and chat messages. They act for the creator, not for DarkByte.
- DarkByte can still remove content, restrict accounts and close spaces under these terms (section 8).
- Each creator space looks different, but the same terms apply everywhere in Throng.
6. Community rules
Do not post or do any of this in Throng:
- Anything illegal, including threats, incitement to violence, hate speech, harassment, stalking, sharing someone's private information (doxxing), defamation, or content that infringes someone's copyright or trademark.
- Sexual content involving minors, of any kind. We report it to the police.
- Sexual or pornographic content, or graphic violence.
- Bullying, insults, shaming, or piling on another member, a creator, or an opposing creator and their fans.
- Spam, scams, phishing links, or advertising that the creator has not allowed.
- Impersonating another person, a creator, TikTok or DarkByte.
- Gift pressure. Throng is about turning up and cheering, not about spending. Do not pressure, shame or guilt anyone into sending TikTok gifts, set gift quotas, or promise or demand anything in return for gifts.
- No trading of TikTok virtual items. Do not buy, sell, swap or transfer coins, gifts, power-ups or other TikTok virtual items, or offer to.
- No fake engagement. Do not use bots, scripts, multiple accounts or other tricks to manipulate TikTok, a battle, Throng's ranks or another service.
- Do not try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer Throng, or get into other people's accounts or spaces.
- Do not post other people's personal or sensitive information.
If you break these rules, we or the space's moderators may remove your content and restrict your account (section 8).
7. Ranks and badges
- XP, ranks (Rookie, Soldier, Sergeant, General), streaks and badges come only from what you do in Throng (RSVPs, check-ins, the rally). Gifts or money spent on TikTok never count.
- The creator or a moderator of a space can make you a Captain, which lets you post to the feed, or pick you as Fan of the night. These are given for showing up and lifting the squad, never for gifts, and can be taken back at any time.
- Ranks and badges have no money value, cannot be sold or transferred, and may change when we change the app.
8. How moderation works
Tools. Every post and chat message has a "Report" button, and you can block any user. Anyone, with or without an account, can report illegal content to DarkByte at https://getthrong.com/report or by email to christian@darkbyte.dk.
Who decides. In a space, the creator and their moderators decide on breaches of these rules and of their house rules. DarkByte staff review reports marked as illegal content.
What can happen. Depending on how serious it is: a post or chat message is removed, you are removed from one space, or your Throng account is suspended or closed. We suspend accounts that often post clearly illegal content, and we may stop handling reports from people who often send clearly unfounded ones, after a warning.
Statement of reasons. When a moderator removes your post or chat message, or removes you from a space, the app shows it under Me: the kind of removal, the space, the time and the reason the moderator wrote. It does not show the removed content. If your account is restricted in another way, you can ask us about it at christian@darkbyte.dk.
Appeal. You can ask for a review within 6 months by emailing christian@darkbyte.dk. DarkByte reviews it and answers you, normally within 14 days. You can also take the matter to the courts.
Threats. If we learn of anything that suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we tell the police.
9. What you post
- You keep the rights to what you post.
- You give DarkByte a free, non-exclusive licence to store, show and send your posts to the members of the space you posted in, and to keep a copy when moderation or the law requires it. The licence ends when the post is deleted, except for copies kept under the privacy policy's retention periods.
- Only post what you have the right to post.
10. Notifications
- You choose which reminders and alerts you get, in the app and in your phone's settings. Notifications can arrive late or not at all; Throng cannot guarantee delivery, so do not rely on them alone.
11. Price
Throng is free for fans. There are no purchases for fans.
12. Test versions
During testing Throng is offered through Apple TestFlight and as an Android APK. Test versions may have bugs, lose data, or change without notice. Please do not share screenshots or details of unreleased features if the creator has asked you not to.
13. Our responsibility
- We work to keep Throng running and safe, but we provide it as it is, free of charge, and cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- We are not responsible for what other members or creators post, for TikTok, or for what happens in a TikTok LIVE.
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law, or our responsibility for intent or gross negligence.
14. Ending your use
You can stop at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we close Throng. When we close Throng or a space, we tell you in advance where we can, and you can request your data under the privacy policy.
15. Changes
We may change these terms. We tell you in the app at least 14 days before a change that matters to you takes effect, unless the law requires a faster change. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
16. Law and disputes
Danish law applies. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country, and you can bring a case before the courts where you live. Please contact us first; most things can be sorted out by email.
