Report content on Throng

Anyone can report illegal content or a rule breach to DarkByte, with or without a Throng account.

In the app

Every post and chat message has a Report button. Tap it, pick a reason and, if you like, add a short explanation. The report stores who reported, a reference to what you reported (not a copy of it), your reason and note, and the decision. It is deleted when your account or the space it was made in is deleted, or when the author removes the reported post or message or deletes their account. The report is tied to your Throng account, and DarkByte keeps that link so it can send you the outcome. The moderation tools do not show who sent it.

By email, without an account

Write to christian@darkbyte.dk with the subject "Report". There is no web form. Please include:

  1. What you are reporting: a post, a chat message, a user profile or a fan space.
  2. Where it is: paste the link to the post or profile. If you cannot, describe the space, the user's display name, and the date and time.
  3. Why you report it: pick a reason from the list below.
  4. Why it is illegal or against the rules: say what is wrong and, if you can, which law or rule it breaks.
  5. Your name and email address. You may leave these out if you are reporting child sexual abuse material.
  6. If you are reporting copyright or trademark infringement: whether you report for yourself or for someone else, for example as a rights holder's representative.
  7. The sentence: "I believe, in good faith, that the information in this report is accurate and complete."

Screenshots help. Do not send us images of child sexual abuse material; describe where it is instead.

What happens next

If you reported in the app, the app tells you the outcome when a decision is made (Me > Your reports): whether action was taken. It does not show the reasons. If you reported by email, we reply to say we received your report and tell you the outcome by email. If you disagree, email us within 6 months and we will look at it again. You can also go to court.

If something is an emergency and someone's life or safety is at risk, call 112 first.
