Delete your Throng account
You can delete your Throng account at any time. There are two ways.
In the app: open the Me tab, tap "Delete my account", then confirm.
If you no longer have the app: install it again and sign in the same way as before (email, TikTok or Apple), then delete in the app. Or write to christian@darkbyte.dk from any address, tell us your Throng display name and how you signed in (email, TikTok or Apple), and, for TikTok, your TikTok username. If you signed in with email, write from that address. We may ask you questions to check the account is yours, and we answer within one month.
What we delete
Within 30 days, and normally at once:
- your account: display name, birth year, settings, and your sign-in details (email address, Clerk user ID, and TikTok ID and username if linked);
- your account at Clerk, our sign-in provider, with what it holds about you (email address, TikTok or Apple details and access keys, sessions, sign-in IP and device records);
- your memberships in fan spaces, roles, RSVPs, check-ins, streaks, ranks and badges;
- your posts and chat messages;
- your push tokens and logged-in sessions on all devices;
- a TikTok link added to an email or Apple account (TikTok ID and username);
- if you are a creator: your fan space and its content. The space is deleted with your account.
What we keep, and for how long
- Reports you made, reports about you or your content, and moderation decisions about you are not kept: they are deleted with your account.
- Whatever Clerk keeps in its own logs and backups after it deletes your sign-in account, for as long as Clerk's privacy policy and data processing addendum say.
- Our rolling backups, until they are deleted, within 15 days. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
- If you emailed us, that correspondence, for as long as we need it to handle your request (see the privacy policy).
Apple and TikTok
Our own server never stored your Apple or TikTok access keys; Clerk held them, and they go with your Clerk account. Deleting removes your account from Throng and from Clerk. If you signed in with Apple, you can also remove Throng from your Apple ID yourself, on iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security > Sign in with Apple > Throng > Stop Using Apple ID. To remove Throng from your TikTok account as well:
- TikTok: Settings and privacy > Security and permissions > Apps and services permissions > Throng > Remove access.
Before you delete
Deleting cannot be undone. If you only want a break, you can switch off the notifications for a space in the app instead. If you want a copy of your data first, write to christian@darkbyte.dk.
